The campaign helps protect Zakat donations made during Ramadan, ensuring they reach their intended cause, by encouraging people to check a charity is registered before giving. It encourages people to be alert to the risk of fraudsters, who can take advantage of public generosity via fake charities and fake appeals impersonating genuine charities. 

Below are the safer giving steps to donating with confidence: 

• Make sure the charity you are donating to is genuine before giving any financial information by checking it is registered www.gov.uk/checkcharity   
• Find out more about the charity, understand how they are spending their funds and the impact they are making.   
• Be careful when responding to emails, texts and online messages or clicking on links within them.
