Black and South Asian women aged 18+ living in the UK who have been diagnosed with metastatic (secondary/advanced) breast cancer are invited to take part in a research study about their experiences of living with the condition.
The study is led by Summayah Zafar, a Doctorate in Health Psychology student and Cancer Support Worker and explores how culture and background may shape experiences of metastatic breast cancer. Women from ethnically diverse backgrounds, especially those with metastatic breast cancer, are often underrepresented in research. This study aims to better understand the emotional, social, and psychological challenges women may face, along with barriers to accessing care and support.
Participation may help improve culturally sensitive healthcare services, inform professionals, and guide future research.
Taking part involves completing a short demographics questionnaire and a one-to-one interview lasting around 45–60 minutes. Interviews can take place online via Microsoft Teams, by telephone, or face-to-face in the Bristol area. With permission, interviews will be audio recorded for transcription. Total participation time is around 60–75 minutes.
Participation is voluntary, and participants may withdraw within 30 days. Optional entry into a prize draw offers a chance to win one of three £20 shopping vouchers.
